Waiting on a 2.6.9 kernel compile

I ran out of things to do while waiting for Linux 2.6.9 to compile for the third time. The problem is that the framebuffer isn't showing up at all. If I boot into a regular console, however, it works fine. Here's hoping the problem gets fixed in this compile.

I just realized yesterday that one of the packages that starts up manages to cause the annoyances with the `cons' function that caused me so much anguish last week and the week before. When I started Emacs with the -q option, things bomb. When I start with the --no-site-file option, things work fine. This means that one of the debian packages I installed is fscking things up. The problem is that once I remove that one package, a bunch of other add-ons get removed. It's hard to know what to blame!

Sure enough, when I removed a whole bunch of elisp add-on crud that I never use, the problem went away. Emacs starts faster, too. Very nice.
