Playing Super Smash Bros. Melee

As a reward to myself for helping to get a working version of Emacs 22 into Ubuntu gutsy, I decided to buy the Gamecube game Super Smash Bros. Melee. I logged quite a few hours playing this as a college freshman, and it was nice to revisit the game. I don't have a Gamecube anymore, so I use my Wii, hooking up a Gamecube controller and a Gamecube-specific memory card.

My favorite character to play as in that game is Marth. I love being able to dive into a group of players and use his counter move (Down + B). Since some character is usually attacking at the time he uses the attack, he often sends 2 or 3 characters flying. The Dancing Blade move (Forward + B) looks neat when done well — back in the day, I would occasionally button mash, get lucky, and pull off something cool.

Ice Climbers are also fun to play as, mainly for annoying human opponents with ice cubes and the like when playing several people at once.
