After 3 trips, 2 from my mom's place and 1 from my dad's, I've got everything moved in and ready for fall. I'm at Hilltop Apartments again, which is about 2 blocks north of Purdue's West Lafayette campus. I have to wait until Monday (tomorrow) for the internet to be "activated". At least I'm used to the way things work here, so that helps.
The place I'm living is pretty much one large room, which has a kitchenette, bookshelf, desks, and beds. There's also a restroom and a small dressing room. Thanks to the 3 comfortable chairs I've brought, we've set up a sort of living room. The TV is perched against a wall on top of 3 plastic storage boxes, the chairs are in front of it, and the desks and beds are all against various parts of the wall. It's a pretty good setup — better than last year.
One of the things that I covet each year is a small "computer nook" to call my own. I've obtained that this year by replacing the standard wooden chair at my desk with a larger padded chair that I brought from my dad's house, and a light movable stand for my laptop. To get into "homework mode", all I have to do is push the laptop stand against the wall and twist the chair to align it with my desk.
I like my roommates. One is a 31-year old Australian exchange student and the other is an Indian Computer Science major, IIRC. I've already introduced both of them to GNU/Linux and the concept of anime. We've even started watching Trigun together. It's really nice to see my Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain, and Haibane Renmei cloth wall scrolls used as decoration.
