I managed to lock my keys in the trunk of my car at the PLUG Installfest yesterday. Also in the car was my laptop and machines of two of my friends. The trunk release lever in the front of the car doesn't work, so I was totally stuck. Furthermore, since this was in the parking garage, I had to get it out by Monday morning, or the car would be towed away.
Today, after calling family and asking advice on the PLUG IRC channel, I realized that it would be best to just call my car insurance company. The person at the phone looked up some lock-openers and gave me some numbers. I was able to get someone to drive out and meet me in the garage. He got the trunk open, and sure enough, my keys were there.
After 3 weeks of midterms and piled-on homework assignments, I just want to relax for a day and do nothing but read stuff and watch anime.
Frustratingly, the PLUG website is still down. This time, it's LDAP issues. LDAP is such a frustrating technology, even if the concept is neat. I'm guessing that upgrading a Sparc machine to Debian testing wasn't a terribly good idea either — the thing keeps locking up, probably due to a kernel panic.
