Howl's Moving Castle

I drove to Lafayette today in order to see Howl's Moving Castle with Christian Naylor. It was quite worthwhile. Having the lead female character turn into an old hag due to a spell was enjoyable, due to its novelty. The senile witch was also amusing.

One of the themes that struck me in the first viewing is that of transformation. The artificially middle-aged witch becomes old and senile. The serious young girl becomes old, but retains her good sense. When she takes action, speaks her mind, or dreams, she briefly becomes young again. One of my friends hasn't seen it yet, so I'll stop at that.

I feel truly privileged to have friends that I can watch anime with, whether at a house or a theater.
