Further contemplations on mooching

Vices sometimes deserve special treatment in order to not become curses. They can be assimilated, lived with, denied, among other options. So what to do about the vice of mooching?

I hypothesize that the riddle presented in Website: Haibane Renmei may hold the answer (when applied to the vice of being a mooch). The riddle is something like this.

Sinners do not know their own sin.
If you know your own sin, are you a sinner?

In other words, now I am aware of the existence of such a tendency, and know that I have once been involved with said tendency. It seems as though I can now avoid the appearance of mooching and the thing itself as well. With a relatively short amount of practice, the new trait of avoidance of this vice (and the consequent increase in whatever corresponding virtue exists) will become assimilated in me.
