I'm trying to start some fine annual traditions. One of them is participating in the crazy day-after-Thanksgiving sales in Mishawaka by getting up before dawn to wait in line. OfficeMax has been good to me last year, and it was good to me this year as well: I found a 1GB SD card that was only around $14, which was around $39 off the normal price. I refueled at McDonald's and waited for Media Play to open so that I could pick up an anime soundtrack.
Last year, Media Play gave me 20% off of the Haibane Renmei OST, and that ended up being one of my favorite CDs to play during the winter season. This year, however, I realized that they had gone out of business. Trips to other local music and book stores proved futile — none of them carried anime soundtracks. I settled for starting a new manga series: Dramacon. Borders gave me a 25% discount at checkout when I bought volume 2 (they didn't have volume 1).
Dramacon was an excellent find, with some priceless expressions, excellent artwork, and a bit of information about the US con scene (not to mention original English manga works). I highly recommend it.
I picked up volume 1 today, and it helped to take my mind off of a couple of recent dismal academic experiences. This semester will probably be a new low point, in spite of my significantly increased allotment of time to school work and decreased amount of time spent on Free Software projects and entertainment. I'm finding it difficult to take an optimistic viewpoint, so little things like this help me. My current job helps, too.
