Doctor visit

I had to miss school on Friday in order to make it in time for the doctor visit. My doctor has a wry sense of humor, which I enjoy. He said that I would need to schedule a visit with the hospital in order to have a sleep study scheduled. What fun. He also said that if I do indeed have sleep apnea, I have the following options.

It looks like losing weight is the least painful of these options. Surgery might not be so bad. The machine I would prefer to do without.

While I was in the Mishawaka area, I decided to stop by Bethel. I met one of Katie's suite mates, who was a Mac user. I gave her the standard lecture on how Macs were toys until OS X came out (due to the lack of a command prompt) and mentioned that Linux has recently overtaken Macs as the second most commonly-used desktop operating system. That's hearsay for now, since I haven't verified it, but it was a fun boast to make nonetheless.

I met Keith and Tiffany in the parking lot. I still need to figure out a good way to get Keith his 21st birthday present from me, and to actually purchase it, for that matter. Then I went to Jon's room to watch the Star Wars Holiday Special, a movie that seems to be one of the essentials that Jon introduces to his freshmen each year. I learned a new game called Munchkins that is somewhat like nethack, or other role playing games of a dungeon-crawling nature. It is fun to make alliances and help out one another. Of course, grudges and rivalries are also quite amusing.

I am reminded once again of how good I have it at Purdue. We had to call the Munchkins game off since two of its participants had to be back before curfew. How pointless. It's all well and good to kick those of an opposite gender out of a hall at a certain time, but why hassle guys who would otherwise be enjoying fellowship? Yet another example of why Bethel sucks. The social aspect of things at Purdue is very different, and I miss all my friends, but seeing these stupidities reminds me that I am very glad to be on the road to grad school and a job. Wait a minute, a job ... eh, that's not very comforting at the moment
