In between episodes from the Twilight Zone marathon, I figured I'd
reminisce a bit on 2005.
- Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 comes with an installer that automatically
finds hardware and installs the proper drivers. Finally GNU/Linux
has become easy enough for the average user to install. I thought
it would take at least two more years for a GNU/Linux distribution
to become easier to install than Microsoft Windows.
- I have to retake a course for the first time.
- I correspond with someone from the Hackers book for the first time:
RMS.
- I attend an Anime Con for the first time, and find that I enjoy
manga even more than anime.
- Projects: Emacs Muse has its first non-alpha release.
- The first full year without being near all of my college friends at
Bethel passes. I feel old at Purdue, like an adult student whose
heady undergraduate days are already over.
